At Gallup-McKinley County Schools, we believe families play an important role in student success. Our student-led conferences give students an opportunity to take an active role in sharing their learning, accomplishments and goals with their families and teachers. Your involvement matters! Working together, students, families and educators can build the support and encouragement students need to thrive.
Contact your student’s school for conference details and scheduling information.
When we work together, our students go further!

**Food and Beverage Reminder for Hawk Families**
Beginning October 12, Thoreau High School staff will consistently enforce our schoolwide food and beverage expectations.
Food, including fast food and other outside food, may not be eaten inside classrooms. Students must eat food in the cafeteria during designated breakfast and lunch times.
Only bottled water and bottled sports drinks will be permitted in classrooms.
Starbucks drinks, fountain drinks, energy drinks, and other outside beverages will NOT be allowed.
Students should finish their food before reporting to class. Bringing food or beverages to school will not excuse a student from arriving to class late.
Thank you for helping us maintain clean, focused classrooms that are ready for learning.
Thoreau High School students in grades 9, 10, and 11 will complete their first interim assessment on Wednesday, October 7.
Students must arrive at school by 8:00 a.m. Testing will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m.
Students must bring:
Their school-issued laptop
Their laptop charger
It is extremely important that every student bring their laptop and charger. Please charge the laptop fully the night before testing.
Thank you for helping our students arrive on time and prepared to do their best!
We are excited to recognize this year's Homecoming Candidates and celebrate their leadership, involvement, and school spirit. We wish each candidate the best of luck and hope they enjoy this memorable experience.
As Homecoming is next week, we encourage everyone to participate in our Spirit Week activities. Dress up, Parade, get involved, and show your Hawk pride as we come together to celebrate our school and our amazing students.
Let's make this Homecoming Week one to remember. Go Hawks! đź’šđź’›

We would like to recognize and thank our amazing custodial staff. Your hard work, dedication, and commitment to keeping our school clean, safe, and welcoming do not go unnoticed. You are an important part of what makes Thoreau High School such a great place for our students and staff, and we truly appreciate all that you do.

The girls captured first place, led by freshman Aaliyah Kemp’s third-place finish and Paige Walthall’s top-10 performance. Adriana Kemp, Shyann Yazzie, and Haley Hill also delivered strong races to help secure the victory.
The boys earned first place behind gutsy performances from Taylen Endito and Herbert Yazzie, who finished second and third. Daniel Jameson and Naythan Cleveland placed in the top 10, while Staton Yazzie’s strong finish secured the team victory.
Fantastic job, Hawks! đź’šđź’›
