The IHS Scholarship Program empowers American Indian and Alaska Native students to launch meaningful careers in health care. Since 1978, the program has helped students build strong educational foundations and step confidently into health professions that serve communities most in need.
Over the years, nearly 7,000 American Indian and Alaska Native students have received IHS scholarships—many going on to serve in Indian health programs across the United States and Alaska, and some even returning home to care for their own Tribal communities.
If you’re looking for a career with purpose, impact, and heart, Indian health programs are looking for you. This scholarship provides financial support for your education in exchange for a minimum two-year service commitment in your chosen health profession—giving you the chance to make a real difference while building a future you can be proud of.
